griffen was kind enough to re-post my last entry on readers_list. Since I'm not familiar with the community I went to check it out.
And that's how I ended up reading this.
I haven't laughed that hard at a LiveJournal entry since bellafiga's last movie review. |

| PERFORMANCE: CALL ME |
[Jul. 10th, 2007|07:59 pm] |
This is brilliant
---------------------------------------------
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: July 10, 2007
PERFORMANCE: CALL ME
In the small Northern Irish village of Cushendall there's a five-storey fortified building called Curfew Tower. Built around 1820 it once served as a prison for rabble-rousers. Currently it's owned by UK artist Bill Drummond and has served as an artist residency since 1999, for artists from anywhere working in any medium to stay and make art.

The artist currently in residence is Canadian performance and media artist S. Astrid Bin. On July 12, from 2pm GMT until 2pm GMT on July 13, she will be living in the phone box beside the tower as a performance titled Call Me.
For 24 hours she will sit in the phone booth and wait for the phone to ring, willing to talk to anyone about anything. Since June 30 she's been in the tower without television, internet, phone, or mobile signal making as much art as she can. Now she's bored. Call her.
Performance commences: 2pm GMT, July 12 (9am Eastern time, 6am Pacific time)
Performance ends: 2pm GMT, July 13 (9am Eastern time, 6am Pacific time)
From the UK you can dial the phone booth at 02821 771 200. From North America dial 01144 2821 771 200. Your calls may be recorded.
For more information on Astrid Bin and her work, visit http://www.disastrid.net. For more information on Curfew Tower, its history and the residency, visit http://www.penkiln-burn.com/highlights/stay_there/stay_there.html.

I got a fishing email from ebay claiming mine was the winning bid on "San Francisco Whiskey Tobacco Whorehouse". For $166.95.
Dude, if I got the chance to scoop a whorehouse for $166.95, you can bet your shortly-to-be-pimped ass I'd jump on it.
-----------------------------------------
One of my New Year's Resolutions was to write more letters to politicians about things that I care about. I started talking about it, thinking that would kick my butt to do it more often. Instead it had the opposite effect.
I guess "Outraged in Brockton" isn't really my idiom.
Mind you, I wasn't very good at chaining myself to bulldozers either, so whatcha' gonna do?
-----------------------------------------
I just read this article. I hereby vow to respond to all such discussions with, "Yep. You're a real barn. Me on the other hand, I look great."
-----------------------------------------
Felt like ass Monday. Felt great yesterday. Feel like ass today. Tomorrow, who knows. Superpowers maybe.
-----------------------------------------
Saw this video the other day on triplespiral's LJ. Formulaic, but I really dug it.
( cut for youtube )
And how can you not like the name Scroobius Pip?

This post contained three gratuitous asses and one butt. |

Slow day at work, so I've been catching up on the news. Christ, it's depressing. Unfortunately I can't get to the BBC from here, and all the North American press wants to talk about is the evacutions.
I'm tired of writing letters to people in Ottawa. I want to take a bus there so I can rant at people in person. The power to know exactly who to smack to most efficiently get the results I want - that's what I want as my Evil Mutant Super Power.
So. Links. First of all, a really interesting summation of what's going on here
cedarseed has been linked from all over. An artist who has been posting daily updates from Beirut.
Anybody else got any sources they are following? |
